If I grow a hybrid, how long will it take for it to dehybridize?

It would take many generations for the seed to stabilize.
It can take sometimes up to ten years.

I have a tomato from a market I grew out.
It took about 7 years for it to stabilize.

My boss has a cherry tomato that's on its 5th year and still hasn't stabilized.
It was a pretty good tomato. I hope it will stabilize this next year because it was very productive, and great taste.

As far as Tomatoes go it takes 7 generations from the fruit(seeds) of a cross. This can be accomplished in as little as two years if you are growing in the tropics or Hawaii. This is also why the majority of GMO crops are first grown in Hawaii.

Can this be done with any hybrid seeds? What about seedless watermelon?
